Maquette has almost no score in the usual sense. What plays instead are real songs by San Francisco indie musicians — the kind a now-parted couple might actually have listened to. Jonathan Blow hired no composer; he licensed existing cello and harp pieces from Magnatune artists, under a single condition — that they stay beautiful when played backwards.
