Terms of Use

Thank you for using Puzzlebyrinth (“the Site”). By using the Site, you are deemed to have agreed to the terms below.

1. The service

The Site publishes reviews and essays about puzzle games and offers browser games such as daily puzzles. The core features are free to use; some additional features are offered through the paid “Premium” plan (Section 6). Its contents may be changed or discontinued without notice.

2. User-generated content (UGC)

The Site lets users post content they create, such as sharing custom puzzles, or submitting a nickname and a score to the leaderboard.

• Rights in posted content remain with the contributor. However, the contributor grants the Site a free, non-exclusive license to display, reproduce, and feature that content (including in on-site features and on social media).
• The following posts are prohibited: anything that infringes the rights of third parties; obscene, discriminatory, or defamatory expression; spam or advertising; and anything that violates the law.
• The Site may remove or hide posted content without notice.

3. Scores and rankings

Leaderboard scores are self-reported, and the Site does not guarantee their accuracy. Scores judged to be fraudulent may be removed.

4. Intellectual property

Rights in the articles, puzzles, designs, and other materials published on the Site belong to the Site or to their rightful owners. Please refrain from reproduction or reposting beyond the scope of private use. Links and quotations are welcome when the source is clearly attributed.

The original fonts distributed by the Site are governed by their own font license (free, commercial use allowed, attribution required) rather than these terms. See the font page for details.

5. Data handling

• The Site stores play records, streaks, and the like in your browser (localStorage). These stay on your device and are not sent to the Site's servers (except for the nickname and score, if you choose to submit them to the leaderboard).
• When you submit to the leaderboard, your IP address is processed briefly on the server to prevent spam. Storage is kept to a minimum, and submitted scores are automatically deleted after about 35 days.
• The Site uses access analytics (Vercel Analytics and PostHog). No personally identifying information is collected.

6. Paid plan (Premium)

The Site offers “Premium”, a paid recurring subscription that unlocks additional features. By subscribing to Premium you also agree to the following.

• Recurring billing: Premium is available as a monthly or a yearly plan; both are subscriptions. The first payment is charged when you subscribe. Until cancelled, the monthly plan renews and is charged every month, and the yearly plan every year, on the renewal date.
• Cancellation and when it takes effect: You can cancel at any time from “Manage subscription” on the account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; Premium features remain available until then. No pro-rated refunds are given for the remainder of a period.
• Refunds: As a digital service, refunds for change of mind are not accepted in principle. If you were charged twice due to a fault on our side, or the service was not provided after payment, we will refund the full amount.
• Price changes: Price changes are announced on the Site in advance. Existing subscribers keep their current price until their next renewal date; the new price applies from that renewal onward. If you do not agree to a change, you may cancel before the renewal date.
• Payment: Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.; card details are never sent to or stored by the Site. Stripe's own terms also apply to the payment.
• Changes to what is included: The features included in Premium may be added to or changed as the Site improves. Significant reductions or discontinuation will be announced in advance.

7. Disclaimer

The Site is not liable for any damages arising from use of the Site, except in cases of intent or gross negligence. Reviews and essays are based on the information and views available at the time of writing.

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may be changed as needed. If there are significant changes, we will give notice on the Site.
