Episode 46 of “Today Is Release Day”: Metal Gear Solid, published by Konami for the PlayStation on September 3, 1998, at 5,800 yen. A game that put not being seen ahead of winning fights. Critics at the time called it a brand new genre, and Japan’s Media Arts Festival gave it an Excellence Award for 1998 — the same year its Grand Prize went to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
