Art of Fighting (1992) - the fighter where faces swell, and where the "super special move" took hold
Episode 65 of "Today Is Release Day": Art of Fighting, the fighting game SNK put into arcades on the Neo Geo MVS on September 24, 1992, billed as the first title of "THE 100MEGA SHOCK". The view zooms in over two steps as the fighters close, and faces swell where they are hit. Underneath the health bar it added a spirit gauge, and it spread both the idea and the name of the super special move. In the American trade magazine RePlay it topped the December 1992 chart for conversion kits. In June 2026 SNK announced Gaiden R, a remaster of 1996's Art of Fighting Gaiden.
